It serves to protect the bottom of the pond from various mechanical damages and to reduce the risk of plant roots sprouting, which can damage the pond film. Also geotextile can be used for water filtration, which reduces the amount of suspended particles and reduces water pollution.
When installing the geotextile together with the PVC or butyl rubber film, first the geotextile is placed on the bottom of the pond and then the film is placed on top of it.
