What is the use of Bacto Plus Filter Start Start Gel?
The fish produce ammonia around the clock, it is released. Ammonia is toxic when the pH is above 7.4. In a biological filter, bacteria convert ammonia through nitrite into nitrate, two types of bacteria are required for this conversion. The first group converts ammonia into nitrites, these bacteria are also called "AOB", the second group converts nitrite to nitrate, these bacteria are also called "NOB". A good product should contain two types of bacteria: AOB (ammonium oxidizing bacteria) and NOB (nitrite oxidizing bacteria). Both processes occur using oxygen. Therefore, it is important that the water flowing through the filter is rich in oxygen. The Bacto Plus Filter Start Start Gel filter gel contains both AOB and NOB, as well as in large quantities other ammoniating and nitrifying bacteria. It is recommended to use these bacteria when starting a new filter, after maintenance, and with water quality problems. When the filter is easy to access and the filter material can be dried, the gel version of the product can be applied directly to the filter material, which enhances the effect.
Instructions for use: Before starting the filter or with high values of ammonia and / or nitrite: 50 ml per 1000 liters of water. Water purification or replacement: 25 ml per 1000 liters of water. Maintenance dose: 25 ml per 1000 liters of water once a month. The water temperature in the pond should be higher than 10 ° C, if it is used below 10 ° C it is necessary to double the dosage. For convenience of dosing it is possible to use a cap, it contains more than 15 ml. Apply the gel to the filter material, then do not switch on the circulation for 12 hours until the filter material is immersed in water and is aerated. Switch on circulation after 12 hours, but do not switch on accessories such as a UV sterilizer or ozonator for 24 hours to conserve bacteria. If there is no filter in the bid or the filter cannot be accessed directly into the bid, it is advisable to do so in the evening. Overdose by bacteria is impossible, a higher dose increases the effect.
