The normal pH of the water in the pond is from 7 to 8. Fluctuations outside these values can cause stress in fish. If the water becomes too acidic or alkaline, this will negatively affect the general condition of the fish and may lead to its death. It is important to regularly check the pH, as new rates can sometimes raise pH, and older rates tend to oxidize over a period of time. Also check the pH in the morning and evening, because diurnal fluctuations are common, especially if there are a lot of plants and algae in the pond.
