German-made floating media Hel-X is designed for efficient biological filtration. The purpose of bio-media is to create the maximum area for the build-up of biological membrane, which consists of colonies of useful anaerobic bacteria, neutralizing such nitrogen compounds as ammonia and nitrites.
However, as the bio-membrane grows, its efficiency decreases. Hel-X floating bio-media differs from other types of media by use method. In the filtration system, Hel-X media is in perpetual motion due to aeration, which prevents intense membrane buildup, thereby improving the filtration and purification efficiency of the above-mentioned harmful substances.
