Principle of operation
Flow filters simultaneously carry out biological, mechanical and ultraviolet sterilization of water. Water is passed through a filter where it passes through various layers of filter media.
During mechanical filtration, the process of retaining dirt particles on the filter sponges occurs. Periodically it is necessary to rinse the filter sponges in pond water.
Biological filtration contributes to the efficient processing of fish waste and other organic contaminants. Starter bacteria for the filter are applied to the sponges before starting the filter and during operation. It is recommended to use starter bacteria for the filter throughout the entire period of operation.
UV sterilization is also very important. The UV sterilizer removes algae, pathogens and bacteria. Thanks to this cleaning, your pond will not bloom and emit an unpleasant odor.
Peculiarities
Some in-line filters do not include a UV sterilizer, but you can buy one separately. Manufacturers prescribe what performance sterilizer is better to choose.
The flow filter for the reservoir is installed exclusively above the water level. It does not create pressure, therefore, water flows out of it by gravity.
